Blah Busters

I Hate February..
Every year I think it will be different...
This year is another Ucky February....

We have come out of Christmas...
Anticipation of a New Year has past...
Spring has Not Sprung...
Sad things happen in my February....
The only saving Grace is that it is a short month...
Oh, No....
Not this year...
It's Leap Year....

One of my best friends loves (hates) this month, too...
So...
Over the Past (???????) years
I send a
FEBRUARY IS OVER!!!!!
package....
Of course, I have been thinking about what to send..
Considering, the month is almost over...
What special something, to lose the February BlaHs!!!
The weather has been so crazy here...
The flowers are confused...

Poor Darlings...
The snow will kill them...
Even Puxatony Phil  said stay in the ground...
So...
An early, early Spring gift is in order....

We received some willow wall baskets at the shop
acornercottage.net/

They even looked a little out of place...
Pussy Willow blooms were wound in the willow...

And...
I even think they had the February Blahs...
The Brown was OK....
But...
What better way to get rid of those Drabs???

Bring out the Paint...

The Process was a challenge...
Yet, Well worth going through....
Kind of like February...
(I digress)
I watered down the paint, thinking it would absorb and allow the natural willow to show through...
Not so easy...
The willow had a protective covering that  resisted water....
After I totally covered the basket in the glaze,
I then took full strength paint and painted over the glaze...

Dry brushing brought out the look I wanted...

I hope this will be a reminder of the Spring that is coming
And
The Winter that will soon be behind.....

                          Blessings, Becky

  2. Love how your basket turned out. We’ve been teased with spring a day here and a day there all month. What is it with February anyway?
