Almost 90 years ago...
Robert was ill...
And...
Couldn't go to school for over a year...
So...
He stitched...

Whenever, I see Handiwork...
My heart goes to the hands who made the piece...

I chose a lace table cloth to cover this chair...

Oh, the hands...

Can Endure our fickle zone 7...
Pansy is derived from the French word pensee...
Meaning thought...

Pansy whispers thoughts...
And mine are of gardening...

Because of the cold...
The furniture must still be carried (dragged) to the back porch...
Painted with Caromal Colours Reclaim Sage...
The dresser is re-imagined into a garden storage... 
I enlarged and stretched a pansy graphic to fit on the top dresser drawer...
And, then..
 Decoupaged the print to the drawer with Mod Podge...

To see a world in a grain of sand

to take pictures with a black and white polaroid camera...

I love re-living the past in today's reality...
I grabbed two chairs from the barn...
Added roses...

Painted them Huckleberry and Pumpkin...
Caromal Colours Country Living Artisan Collection Paint...

The chairs' seats are covered with beautiful hand stitched pillow cases...
that my husband cut to fit...

This wardrobe has great potential...

It doesn't look like much as is...

Country Living Texture Basecoat is a versatile paint for this type of work...
We painted the first coat with Parchment ...
Mixed the Parchment with Colonial Blue Texture Basecoat....
And...
Mottled the Light Blue over the Parchment...

Adding wreath appliques...
And...
A hand painted ceramic knob..
Transformed the drab to chic...

The surprise...
Opening the doors to a cedar lined Armoire...

Walking into the enchanted display of...
Tinsel Trading Company...
At the Atlanta Gift Mart...

Like Cinderella...
I want to go to the Ball...
(in this case...Tinsel Trading Company...
In New York City...)
This Midwestern farm girl has never had a desire to actually see the sights...
In New York City...
But...
Now I am dreaming...

warmly greeted me among their treasures...
Marcia Ceppos...
So wonderfully and graciously... 
Shared her grandfather's legacy with me...

I was so taken back with her story...
That I wished I could hear it again and again...
And I can...
Marcia spoke into my phone and recorded...
Her love of Tinsel Trading Company...

Her grandfather started Tinsel Trading Company in 1933...
Located in the Garment Center in New York City...
Couture designers and others in the garment industry...
Came to buy unique buttons, beads, notions, wire thread, and so much more...
Marcia began working with her grandfather when she was 8 years old...
(This overwhelmed me...
For my granddaughter is 8 years old...
And...
Often goes with me to work at A Corner Cottage...)

Her grandfather's original inventory goes back to 1930 and earlier...
He purchased inventory from warehouses...
Where inventory had been sitting for 20-30 years...

These hand beaded flowers came from a small town...
Mont Passot...
In Southern France...
The flowers were placed on gravestones instead of fresh flowers...
Which would wilt after a few days...
The women of the church...
Would hand bead petals and flowers...
To make floral arrangements...
They would then put them in vases...
And...
Set them on the tombstones of their loved ones...
