Piano Shelf

Our son, Joe, started piano lessons when he was 7 years old...
Mr. Gale, his teacher, said that Joe needed to know how to read before he would teach him to play the piano...
And...
Teach him...
He did...
Joe lovingly refers to Mr. Gale as Grandpa...
And...
Mr. Gale has lovingly considered Joe as one of his own...
When Joe was ten...
Mr. Gale taught Joe to Play Deep Purple...
And Then...
He gifted Joe with the manuscript that he played at his own high school recital...
More than 65 years ago...

Joe and his wife, Amy, moved into their own home last week...
The new home is waiting for the Piano movers...
To bring Joe's Piano home...
The Piano gifted to him by Mr. Gale...
Meanwhile...
Deep Purple...
Is in a place of honor...
Behind the Piano Joe spent many hours playing in our home...

I wanted a shelf to anchor Deep Purple...
And...
I have many small coffee tables that don't sell very well...

So...
My husband cut  them into halves...

And...
Then...
I painted one with Caromal Colours Reclaim Licorice...

We hung one of the shelves after going to hear...
Chris Tomlin...
In concert...
At...

A two day Christian Venue...
Our Joe and his band...
Played on a different stage right after Chris Tomlin...
I would love to share our son with you...
He would love for you to...

  3. We must not be too far from each other. My son spent last weekend at Fandana-best weekend of his 15 years, he says! :) I couldn’t get the link to work but I’ll look it up and ask my son if he remembers hearing him.

  4. Came over from Charmer. I have a stack of these tables just waiting to be bought – HOW CLEVER!!!
How special is the bond between your son and the piano teacher. I love the framed music on the wall. Will it go to live with Joe with the piano?

    How proud you must be!

    • Gloria…My husband added a board to the underside of the back of the coffee table…He then screwed through that board into the stud in the wall..The other coffee tables, we added decorative moulding to the finish the back of the table/shelf…Blessings, Becky
